Icebreaker:Who am I and why did I choose to study urban design?

Hello everyone, nice to meet you here, this is an ice-breaking tweet i think. I want introduce myself, my name is Zixuan He, and my english name is Ryan. I come from china mainland from northside. My undergraduate major is environmental design, which is a subject with many directions, such as interior, landscape, planning and so on. I have learned a little of each subject, which makes me feel a little messy in that 4 years. But, what made me realize that I could keep learning is that I started to design my first house two years ago and it was quite successful, so I think I chose the design industry is right.

Before I decided to enter the master’s program, I try to do interior design work for about three or four months. After graduation, I worked for half a year, including seedling engineering, garden management and other positions. But I realized that this was not what I wanted during i work period, so I make a choice that is came to Newcastle University in uk to do more detailed design, that is, urban design.

I hope I can using my previous study and work experience (honestly it not to long)into it for deeper learning in the future , and consult these and learn from teachers, classmates and friends from different industries and disciplines.I like design subject I think , which is very complicated, and I realize that my previous work is more inclined to management than design. I am very disappointed with that.

But I have been Newcastle study for about a month, and I think it is wonderful. Is what I want, the teachers are very professional and friendly, my classmates are also, to be honest, I may not be a master of design, but I will refuel, very happy to meet you in here!!
