This is an interesting blog post about our region in the North East/ Northumberland. I completely agree that public transportation in the UK with perhaps the expectation of London and other larger midland cities such as Manchester has a more refined network of systems. London being the capital, but also part of the bus company is owned by the Abellio Group which run bus services on behalf of the Transport for London.
Therefore, I believe that in order to improve our local bus service, the local council/ committee should hold a larger influence in how the service is run rather than privatisation companies such as Arriva, Stagecoach, or Go North East. It is then essential for a company to be part-owned. Furthermore, if one system of payment such as London oysters and Hong Kong octopus card – it will further enhance the connectivity between different types of transport.
Please let me know if you agree or disagree with my opinion. Thanks
