Icebreaker
- Why am I here?
The process of choosing this major was quite sudden, it came about when I was working on my portfolio, I did my undergraduate degree in Wenzhou, China, and during that time I had a lot of courses that used Wenzhou as a model for his kind of landscape issues. In the course of my research, I found that there are also many interesting issues in cities, so the final project in my portfolio is a study of a small town in Wenzhou. This is the first time I have conducted my project from the perspective of the city, and I find it very interesting, he is much more interesting than just landscape, and he needs to be considered in a more comprehensive way. I don’t want to limit myself to the details of space, form and landscape materials, I want to think outside the box to address larger environmental and social issues.
- What do I want?
I hope that through this year, I can have a deeper understanding of how to become an urban designer, and I also hope that through this year, I can have a collision of ideas with colleagues from different disciplines and different backgrounds, and I also hope that I can go to different cities during this year to have a practical experience, just like the old Chinese saying, “Read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles”.
