Thinking of Urban design

What has urban design changed? What is its value?

I have been wondering whether urban design really makes a city better, or makes the life of its residents better. In contrast, the natural growth of cities. In short, which is better between the spontaneous growth of cities and the construction of cities according to design.

First, spontaneous growth is generally congested in some areas, so a new one-day road will be added or widened in this area to solve the problem of congestion. Or when the city is saturated, it will naturally expand outward. This is a way to solve problems directly when they encounter problems, and it is also the most traditional way of urban growth.

Urban design is to put forward a vision and vision for a city or region in advance. After drawing the design blueprint, build the desired construction through step-by-step implementation. This matter needs to analyze and predict the situation of the region in advance, find out the possible problems in the future and prevent them in advance. At the same time, it can also solve the current problems. However, this method may have the problems of miscalculation and high investment cost.

On the whole, I think urban design is still necessary. Although the early investment cost is high, it is of great significance in the long run. It has not only social value, but also economic value.
