Looking back, looking forward

Time flies and I can’t believe it’s been nine months since I arrived in Newcastle. I would like to thank all of you who have read my blog, I am still a novice when it comes to blogging. But blog writing has also been a great help to me, I use it as a record and review of what I have learned in the classroom and as some research for my personal interests. I hope you will enjoy the content as well. Blogging has also provided me with more opportunities to think more deeply, and sometimes there are parts of the design that I may have overlooked that I can write down in the blog to remind myself. So the process of blogging not only improves my writing skills, and helps me to improve my logical thinking skills and my ability to summarize and summarize the knowledge, but it is also a process of accumulating knowledge, which will urge me to read more books and articles and allow me to learn more about design ideas and design innovations.

There is no set requirement for the content of our blog this term, but we have not had any particular difficulty in choosing a topic, as we have had two design class experiences and the preparation of design papers to provide many ideas for our blog. I have mainly been inspired by the Housing Alternatives (ARC8069) module. I picked out some of my confusion and interest in housing replacement design to examine some of the more detailed points. Naturally, it led me to seek more academic grounding. I felt that slowly I was able to share some of my ideas more confidently. The weekly tutorials with my tutor and the interaction with my classmates also helped me to strengthen some of my ideas and clarify some of my design thinking.

Challenge

I hope that if I have another blogging assignment next term I can be more strict with myself and finish it on time and with quality. Also in a lot of the content this term I have had to do some physical and digital models. I feel that this has greatly improved my hands-on skills and my ability with the software. Although I am still slow in using the software, I believe it is a process of practice that makes perfect and I will get better and better at it. In addition to this, the class had to work together to make a large solid model, which I think also improved our cooperation and communication skills.

The future

I don’t know if there will be any more blogging courses next semester or if I will have the opportunity to blog when I return to China. But it’s a great way to show my ideas and interests. It has also helped me to develop a habit of reading, thinking, and recording that I think will stay with me for the rest of my life and will slowly contribute to my progress.
