Odyssey…
Since my childhood, I had deep interest in playing with toy blocks I used to fulfil my dream of having a huge castle, car, giant robot and also try to resolve my silly problems of hiding from mother, repairing my old toys with the help of toy blocks. As I grew up due to toy blocks my interest developed in structures which impact on us socially, psychologically, economically and many more. This encourages me to apply for the undergraduate degree in Architecture.
I have learnt to take pile of data and information and interpret it to inform how to design a building or solve a problem. During the course, I have travelled other parts of the country to explore how people live and interact with their environments. I often find myself so focused in the process making that I lose track of time and the rest of the world. I have made great friends and met some amazing people. The course allows me to look at problems from many different angles. It changed my perception to see the world.
My greatest achievement is that I have successfully completed my education till now with excellent grades. I had been a member of National Association of Student of Architecture which provided me a platform to learn, interact and grow. I also attended Zonal Nasa Convention twice in the year 2018 and 2019 in which I participated in design competitions and workshops which provide me an opportunity to make new friends, connections, develop trade ideas, thoughts, views related to specific topic and encouraged me to explore more in the field of architecture. During academic I also participated in different sports like- Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis which improved my social skills along with physical health. I got a chance to improve my time management skills, research skills, presentation and speaking skills, multitasking ability and conflict resolution skills.
During my Bachelors, I did my training in Design Forum International and I got an opportunity to learn and work on my soft skills such as teamwork, independence, effective communication, and negotiation skills that will come in handy with future projects and eventual clients. While training, I performed number of duties such as- site visits and project research, Presentation drawings, Construction and working drawings, 3D visualization and renderings, scheduling and construction administration, collaboration with other professionals in the construction industry, building physical models, carrying out drawing revisions.
But Bachelor’s in Architecture only is not enough to satisfy my desire for knowledge, I want to learn new and emergent techniques, analyze and visualize both the physical and non- physical forces shaping urban conditions to design in a variety of urban contexts and scales, and to critically evaluate the social, economic and ecological impacts of urbanization and I am sure that Urban Design program will satisfy my desire.
After graduating from university in future, I really want to contribute in creating cities for the future which are more sustainable, equitable and beautiful and also ascertain that city life become more livable for residents by controlling the use of resources keeping pollution levels low and ensuring road traffic and other transport systems operating seamlessly.
How far I’ve come for desire but, I don’t know how far I’ll go…
