Reflexive Summary-Semester 2
The second semester went by a lot quicker than I thought it would and was over before I knew it. Compared to the first semester, I have mastered the workflow of each course and am not as overwhelmed as I was in the first semester. There was also more freedom in discussing blog topics to better incorporate the semester’s courses. So for this semester’s blog topic I chose the topics of co housing and sustainable communities and these were the two topics that I found interesting in this semester’s housing alternatives course and used them in my design thesis proposal.
The second semester of blogging has been more than just an academic assignment, it has been an opportunity for self-reflection and growth. In particular, this semester’s Housing alternatives course has given me a great deal of inspiration and reflection, resulting in two rich and insightful blogs.
I first learnt about co housing from a case study in ARC 8090, that there was such a housing model in the world, and I tried to understand it and found that it was working very well in many places, and I applied it to the design of this course.

This semester was also the fastest growing semester for me. The intense courses and many tutorials have given me a grasp of urban design, and I know how to shift from analysis to final design instead of generalisation. I cherish every opportunity to go out on study tours and to attend classes, and it was quite an unforgettable experience to go on study tours in the rain with the group.
