Summary of my experience of participating in the Blog

In this semester, I participated in the task of writing a blog, which was the first time I combined academic learning with personal thinking, and conducted in-depth summarization and expression through words. In this process, I not only improved my writing skills, but also deepened my understanding of urban design. Here are a few experiences I have gained from participating in blog writing:

  1. Overcoming language barriers: As a non-native English speaking student, my English comprehension and expression are not always smooth, especially when explaining design theories and proposing deep thinking. It is difficult to find suitable vocabulary and expression methods, which affects the fluency and accuracy of the article. But with the writing of my blog, I gradually adapted to this process, repeatedly revising and improving, not only improving my language skills, but also allowing me to think more deeply about various details in urban design.
  2. Planning ahead and using outlines: Before writing a blog, I found it very important to have a clear outline. An outline can help me clarify my thoughts and ensure that the article is organized. Before writing, I will list the core points of each paragraph and think about how to logically connect them together. This process not only improved my writing efficiency, but also reduced the difficulty of later revisions.
  3. The importance of organizational structure: When writing a blog, a good structure is the key to ensuring that the article is clear and organized. In the writing process of each blog, I use subheadings to organize the structure of the article. This approach makes my article more logical and helps readers quickly identify key points and understand my viewpoint.
  4. Maintain a mindset of continuous learning: Through blog writing, I realized that urban design is a constantly evolving discipline. In the process of writing, I constantly search for information, learn new design concepts and practical experience, and maintain a thirst for new knowledge. This mindset of continuous learning has allowed me to constantly improve in my writing, while also fueling my passion for urban design.
  5. Overcoming writing anxiety and self doubt: During the writing process, I have felt self doubt multiple times, especially after completing an article, I often feel that it is not perfect enough or does not meet my expected standards. At first, whenever I finished writing a blog and saw its shortcomings, especially the lack of clear expression and compact structure, I would have a strong self-criticism in my heart. However, as my writing practice continued to accumulate, I began to realize that perfection is not a goal that must be pursued. I gradually learned to accept my shortcomings and believe that through hard work, I can continuously improve.

Overall, blog writing is not only a challenge to my academic abilities, but also an exercise in my thinking skills. Through this experience, I realized that urban design is not only a theoretical discipline, but also a process that requires continuous practice and reflection. As a future urban designer, I will need to communicate with people from different backgrounds (such as colleagues, clients, the public, etc.). Blog writing provides a great practice platform that helps me improve my ability to express my views clearly, concisely, and logically. Through continuous writing, I am able to better organize my thinking, enhance my persuasiveness, and improve my communication skills. So in my future studies and career, I will continue to maintain this writing habit and improve my design thinking and expression abilities through continuous summarization and feedback.
